While we’re on the subject of shrimp…

July 28, 2008

Here’s a picture of a guy who isn’t one…

eating one….

Thanks for the pic, Annie!!

Sorry Marc…  Since me and Annie have SO many pictures of you eating, here’s one of us eating:

Hey Sammy– if you ever have a hankering for delicious stuff (but be ready for indigestion later) you should stop at White Castle.  Check out Sam’s posts about his road trip.  The food descriptions are appreciated.  🙂

Bragging about Stuff We Cooked Day

July 27, 2008

I never said I wouldn’t use this blog to brag about stuff we cooked.  Here is a shot of BU enjoying the Shrimp Scampi we made.  We used this recipe but instead of grilling the shrimp we sauteed it with some veggies.

Action shot: Time for seconds.

We even watched this video to learn how to de-vein shrimp.  We did pretty well with our first attempt at shrimp making, but we overly-cautiously over-cooked them a little bit.  Translucent is ok.  Here’s a close up of the food a-la allrecipes.com:

Yummy!

Family Restaurant Part Deux

July 24, 2008

Don’t you wanna be in the same family as this guy?

Fried chicken!  That’s some real home cookin’!

Eating in the shadows…

Do hippies eat steak?

July 23, 2008

Yeah, I know that tie dye is pretty mainstream these days, but still. I had to come up with some kind of witty (?) title for this post.

Whether you’re a hippie, a carnivore, or both, there’s nothing better than a meal at The Family Restaurant after a weekend of “roughing it.”

P.S. A riddle for you:

Q: What do you get when you put Sam’s blog and my blog together?

……..

A: This. (Scroll down to July 21)

My Swedish Friend

July 21, 2008

says: “this is me failing to eat ice cream. In a dingy apartment in Stockholm, Sweden.”

(is not actually Swedish)

I totally thought this was wonton soup, and I never would have guessed it was taken in Sweden. We’ll file this one under “Eating Around the World.” Pictures taken around the world and/or of worldly cuisine are welcome.

Thank Brad for his submission by visiting his baseball-related blog (I know I have a few baseball-fan readers out there). If that’s not enough of a pitch for you, if you visit I promise you will also find at least one exceedingly clever pun.

Also, if you don’t get the reference in the title, you’ll find it about 1:02 into this video. But don’t let it make you sad.

Hot Dog, we’re in love!

A.K.A. Lady and the Tramp Go Camping. Awwwwww!

So, as you can see, this year’s camping trip was fabulous, as it always is, and I’ve got plenty of material to spread out over the next few weeks, and even a few new faces. Thanks again to Sam for keeping up the tradition. This week he’ll be setting off on a three-month road trip across the US and some of Canada. Keep track of him at Handstands Across America. Perhaps we’ll also see some shots of “Eating Across America.”

For Richard or Pourer

July 17, 2008

I’m not sure if Richard is coming camping this weekend, but here’s a quick tribute. A bunch of Guys Eating Stuff aficionados will be heading out into the “wilderness” for Sam’s birthday, where this picture of Richard was taken last year, and basically where all this nonsense started. Everyone, don’t forget your cameras!

Can’t get enough of Richard? I don’t blame you. Here’s the post from May staring Richard.

Acid42 and Ed Devour Their Food

July 16, 2008

The Story: Acid42 (R) loves pizza and doesn’t mind the way that it makes his hair stand on end. Sometimes it makes him look feral. Ed (L) likes eating chicken with a fork. Demurely.

A big thanks to Acid42 for submitting, captioning and titling this fabulous photo!   This is the first submission from someone I’ve never met.  Wow!!  Check out his blog here.
